Standard visa procedure

​

ETA is an official authorization for a short visit to Sri Lanka and is issued electronically for business purposes, tourism and transit purposes.

 

ETA holders will be issued a 30-day short visit visa at the port of entry in Sri Lanka through an online system so no passport copies, documents or photographs are required.

​

It is advisable to keep a copy of the ETA approval with you to be produced at the port of entry in Sri Lanka. All ETA holders should fulfill the following requirements at the port of entry:

  • A passport valid for not less than 6 months from the date of arrival.

  • A confirmed return air ticket

  • Sufficient funds to meet the expenses during the stay

Requirements to apply for the ETA on behalf of you:

  • A copy of your passport bio page

  • A return airline ticket

  • Residential address

  • Contact No.

If you require tourist visa

​

Select Language => Apply => Select “I agree” at the end of Terms and Conditions => Select “tourist”

 

Fill the application and pay the fee online. Keep a printout of the confirmation and hand it over at the immigration counter when you land in Sri Lanka.

If you require business visa

 

We will provide you with a sponsor letter on the 99x letterhead on request. If you require one, please send over the following information to your main contact point at 99x:

  • First name

  • Middle name

  • Last name

  • Date of birth

  • Passport number

  • Title

COVID-19 travel procedures (last updated: 27th October 2022)

​

Please note that these are the current regulations but they are subject to change depending on the Covid situation in the country. The following are the details for fully vaccinated foreign nationals, for details on unvaccinated foreign nationals, please check the official Sri Lanka Tourism website or reach out to your 99x management representative or project lead.​

Before Departure:

​

•Fully vaccinated travellers are not required to take any COVID-19 tests before travelling to Sri Lanka.

​

•Travellers who have recovered from COVID-19 between 7 days and 6 months before the date of departure, and who have been vaccinated at least with a single dose of a 2-dose vaccine 14 days before travel are exempt from the pre-departure COVID-19 testing requirement. They must present a positive COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test result in English as proof that they were previously infected.

•Children below 12 years old are exempt from the pre-departure COVID-19 testing requirement.

Vaccination requirements

​

•Fully vaccinated travellers with recommended doses completed 14 days before travel must present

a valid vaccination certificate.

​

•Children below 18 years old who have received at least a single dose of any COVID-19 vaccine 14 days

before travel will be considered fully vaccinated.

​

All other travellers of 12 years old and above who are not fully vaccinated must have a negative COVID 19

test certificate in English for a PCR test conducted within 72 hours of departure or a rapid antigen test

conducted within 48 hours of departure. (Self-tests will not be accepted.)

​

​

On arrival:

  • No on-arrival PCR test for fully vaccinated travellers

  • No on-arrival PCR test for not vaccinated / not fully vaccinated children and they will be allowed to

      travel with their parents

​

Mask requirements

Masks are optional on board but must be worn at the airport in your destination.

​

Travel eligibility

Sri Lankan nationals / dual citizens who are travelling on Sri Lankan passports / Sri Lanka emergency travel document holders are allowed entry into Sri Lanka.

 

Foreign nationals are allowed entry if they have obtained an approved Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), landing endorsement or residence visa. The Department of Immigration & Emigration recommends having a copy of your ETA with you at all times to avoid delays on arrival.

Required forms


Passengers are required to submit a completed Health Declaration Form (HDF) before arrival in Sri Lanka
